DIY Taco Seasoning

Skip the side of MSG, corn starch, hydrogenated oil and silicon dioxide at your next Taco Tuesday with this DIY taco seasoning. Add this seasoning to your favorite meat or meat substitute for flavor-packed tacos with none of the additives.

DIY Taco Seasoning

Makes 4 servings per 1 pound of meat or meat substitute

Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 15 minutes (includes cooking of meat)

Ingredients

8 ounces tomato sauce, no added salt

¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 tablespoon chili powder

½ teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon ground coriander

1 teaspoon salt

1 pound of ground meat or meat substitute

Directions

Combine dry spices in small bowl. Cook meat or meat substitute until cooked through. Drain. Add tomato sauce and spice blend to meat and stir. Let simmer uncovered for 3 to 4 minutes. Serve warm as tacos or over a taco salad.
